1. Different in nature
1). Composite mold: A mold structure in which the punching machine completes multiple processes such as blanking and punching in one stroke.(compression molding composites/ carbon fiber mold)
2). The progressive die is also called the continuous die. The word explanation means that it goes up step by step.( frp molding/ carbon fiber mold making)
The progressive die can be continuously skipped and consists of multiple stations. Each station is connected in sequence to complete different processes, and a series of different stamping processes can be completed in one stroke of the punch press.( die stamping/ progressive stamping)
2, different characteristics
1). Advantages and disadvantages of composite mold(compression molding carbon fiber/ custom carbon fiber molding)
(1) The workpiece has good coaxiality, straight surface and high dimensional accuracy.
(2) The production efficiency is high, and it is not limited by the precision of the plate shape. Sometimes scrap corners can also be used for reproduction.( progressive die stamping/ progressive tooling)
(3) The processing and manufacturing of mold parts is difficult and costly, and the punch and die are easily limited by the minimum wall thickness, which is not suitable for some lower parts with small inner hole spacing and small inner hole and edge spacing.( die metal stamping)
Due to the obvious advantages of the composite mold itself, mold companies generally tend to choose the composite mold structure when conditions permit.( sheet metal stamping)
2). Advantages of progressive die:
(1) Progressive die is a multi-task continuous punching die. In one mold, it can include many processes, such as blanking, bending and drawing, with high productivity.( steel stamps)
(2) Progressive die operation is safe.( die metal stamping/ progressive die manufacturing)
(3) Easy to automate;( progressive die tooling/ progressive stamping and fabrication)
(4) High-speed punching machines can be used for production.
(5) It can reduce the area of the stamping machine and the site, and reduce the transportation of semi-finished products and the occupancy of the warehouse.( stamping/ custom metal stamp)
(6) Parts with high size requirements should not be produced by progressive die.( precision metal stamping)
Disadvantages of progressive die:
1. Due to the complex structure, high manufacturing precision, long cycle time and low material utilization rate of progressive die, the manufacturing cost is relatively high. ( aluminum stamping/ stainless steel stamping)
2. The progressive die is to punch out the inner and outer shape of the workpiece one by one, and each stamping has a positioning error, so it is difficult to stably maintain the relative position of the inner and outer shape of the workpiece at one time.( die stamping parts)
Extended information: ( deep draw metal stamping/ embossing stamp metal/ stamping presses)
Engineering mold: also known as “single-process mold”, refers to a mold that can only complete one stamping process in one stroke of stamping. After this project is completed, the product needs to be taken out of the mold manually or with a robot, and then put into the mold at the next station to continue production until the last process of the mold is finished, and the entire product is not considered complete. This kind of mold is easy to maintain, but it is time-consuming and labor-intensive to produce, requiring more labor and time costs, and the product scrap rate is higher. ( single-process mold/ silver stamping)
Continuous die: also known as “progressive die”, refers to a die that completes two or more stamping processes at different stations during one stroke of stamping. This kind of die is difficult to maintain and requires experience. Rich master fitters operate, but the production efficiency is very high. If the speed is fast, thousands of products can be produced in an hour, saving labor and time costs, and the product scrap rate is low.( custom steel stamp/ steel marking stamps)
