The advantages of punch presses, or stamping presses, include the ability to produce goods that cannot be produced mechanically through a variety of mold applications, high efficiency, and low technical requirements for operators. As a result, their applications are growing steadily more varied. Let the editor now outline the safety measures for operating the punch press:
When operating the punching machine for punching and forming, specific safety precautions must be taken because of its fast speed and high pressure features.
1. Before using the punching machine, check to see if the main fastening screws are loose, if the mold has cracks, if the clutch, brake, automatic stop device, and operating mechanism are all in working order, and whether the lubrication system is clogged or low on oil.
2. When necessary, the punching machine can be checked using an empty automobile. It is prohibited to drive or conduct test runs with the protective cover removed from the transmission parts exposed outside the press.
3. The slider must be opened to the bottom dead point, the closed height must be accurate, and the eccentric load must be avoided as much as possible while installing the common punch mold. The punch mold must also be securely fastened and pass a pressure test inspection.
4. During work, focus should be maintained, and extending hands, tools, or other things into the danger zone is strictly prohibited. Small parts need to be handled using specialized tools (tweezers or feeding mechanism). Only tools are permitted to free the blank once it has been trapped in the mold.
5. The feeding should be halted and the cause investigated if it turns out that the punch press is operating improperly or making abnormal noises (such as continuous strikes and cracking noises). It should be halted for repairs if the rotating components are loose, the control mechanism is broken, or the mold is loose or damaged.
6. To avoid accidental action, the hand or foot must be free from the button or pedal when punching a workpiece.
7. When there are more than two individuals operating, someone should be designated as the driver and coordination and cooperation should be prioritized. The mold should be laid out on the floor, the power source should be turned off, and the appropriate cleaning should be done before leaving for the day.
8. Before they can work independently, punch employees must learn to master the design and functionality of the equipment, be familiar with the operating guidelines, and receive an operating license.
9. Use the equipment’s safety protection and control mechanisms properly; do not remove them at random.
10. Verify that the machine tool’s transmission, connection, lubrication, and other components, as well as the protective safety devices, are in good working order. The mold installation screws need to be secure and immobile.
