Cutting the product's approximate shape or outline is known as "blanking." The goal of this step is to reduce and stay away from burrs, which can increase the price of your product and lengthen its lead time. This stage involves measuring the hole's diameter, its geometry or taper, the distance from edge to hole, and the initial piercing placement.
Bending: It's critical to account for sufficient material when creating bends in stamped metal parts. Make sure to account for sufficient material in both the part's design and its blank. A few crucial things to keep in mind are:
It may get distorted if a curve is created too near to the hole.
Slots, tabs, and notches should all be made with widths that are at least 1.5 times the material's thickness. Punches can be hard to form if they are too little because of the force used, which can shatter them.
Your blank design should include a radius around each corner that is at least half the thickness of the material.
